1950 PROOF FRANKLIN HALF DOLLAR
NGC CERTIFIED PR 66
In 1950, the U.S. Mint resumed production of Proof coins, having completed the striking of war medals for distribution during and after World War II. Interest in the new Proof sets was much higher than it had been in 1942, and the U.S. economy had improved dramatically, thus the mintage of the 1950 Proof Set exceeded 50,000 units, surpassing all previous records.
Most Proof 1950 Half Dollars have a brilliant finish. Less than one-tenth of the certified examples have a Cameo finish, and only a small handful have a Deep Cameo Finish" (PCGS Coin Facts)
